We never shy away from a challenge, so we rolled up our sleeves and got to work
Through our partnership with New Black we are privileged to work with the latest technical innovations in the world of omnichannel retail, and of course help build some of them too.
Apple Tap to Pay for iPhone will allow merchants across the US, from small businesses to large retailers, to use their iPhone to seamlessly and securely accept Apple Pay, contactless credit and debit cards, and other digital wallets through a simple tap to their iPhone. No additional hardware or payment terminal needed.
New Black was asked to enable this new iPhone capability for some of their retail customers in the US, using a newly developed SDK from Adyen, also a partner of New Black.
New Black only had a few weeks to make this happen. This was new technology for both Adyen and Apple, and both companies were anxious to get this technology into the hands of retailers. We never shy away from a challenge, so we rolled up our sleeves and got to work.
Luckily, Adyen created a very intuitive SDK and implementing it in EVA’s companion app was a breeze. For us it was the first time we’ve worked with Apple’s “additional capabilities” functionality. There are basically capabilities that are only available for a selected number of developers. It wasn’t an easy project, but we’ve enjoyed every step of the way.
And together we’ve got the job done in time! On July 12th, a Scotch & Soda store in New York was the first one that offered their customers the option to pay for their order using Apple Tap to Pay, with the EVA companion app. And we helped to make that happen!
